This existing problem began because of political and theological divergence, but with the help of outside forces such as Britain, Russia, and North America, it developed into a more complex crisis. Many non-Muslims believe the cause of the Shi’ite and Sunni violence originated from their religious differences. However the differences in tradition, education, law, and religious practices are a small factor in this escalating problem. The core of their faith is practically identical. Both factions believe that Muhammad, their prophet, was the messenger of Allah. The poem is set in 1940, Hitler and his Nazi party had taken control of most of Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire Jewish race. Duffys haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable and its very strong opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem. The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first meaning is that the word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David. Jewish people were forced to wear them on their clothes to mark them out as targets of abuse and torment for Nazis. Another possible meaning of the title is metaphorically symbolising a literal shooting star and comparing it to the life of the Jewish prisoners. The Jews life is similar to the shooting star in the way that their life and potential was bright and brilliant but was cut short. The title stays with the reader and is reinforced by its clever use of alliteration. The poem begins ith After I no longer speak they break our fingers to salvage my wedding ring. This is a very shocking opening line and prepares us for the rest of the poem. This, spoken by a dead Jewish woman is a shocking description telling how the Germans would take anything valuable off the Jewish women and how they value Jewellery more than human life. The word Salvage is usually used to mean saving useful parts of something which is being disposed of, the associations of this word clearly indicates the lack of respect and care the Germans had for the dead Jewish bodies. Carol Ann Duffy goes on to list six typical Jewish names, Rebecca Rachel Ruth Aaron Emmanuel David, stars on all our brows It happens to be six names she lists which may represent the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust. The list is intentionally not punctuated, the names go together and show how the list of names would go on and on. The poem then goes on to say that those Jewish prisoners were stood, beneath the gaze of men with guns. The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are part of a mass slaughtering which eems hard to believe that that is humanly possible. Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second stanzas. This technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters / upright as statues and carry the impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how the women are stood firm and even in the most humiliating, de-humanised state. You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for her friend as they are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and looking out for her friend hows the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The following single word line, Fell is a euphemism for the death of the woman and gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like a literary bullet which is literally the object which killed her. Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad. She gives the word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should not forget what happened there. Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity reoccur. Enjambment is once again used to link stanzas two and three. One saw I was alive. Loosened / his belt. This technique is used to show how the women is constantly worried about getting raped. The poem goes on to say My bowels opened in a ragged gape of fear. The words used in this sentence are harsh and strong to show the pain and distress the women is going through. The poem is continued with a disturbing and difficult question, How would you prepare to die, on a perfect April evening? This contrasts the perfect calm of the Western European summers evening with the highly opposite atrocities taking place within. The poem continues to say With young men gossiping and smoking by the graves. Gossiping is usually a social and pleasent activity, but to do it next to the graves of the Jewish people deameans them even more. The end of the stanza describes how the Nazis played a cruel Joke on one of the prisoners, they tricked the Jews into thinking they were going to kill them by holding a gun to their head and fired an empty barrel. This stanza on a whole emphasizes the cruelty and inhumane way the Nazis treated the Jews. In the first three lines of stanza 5, Duffy begins each sentence with After to make the eader understand the length this suffering lasted. Duffy uses antithesis to contrast between the intense pain the Jews experienced and the casual attitude of the Nazis, After immense suffering, someone takes tea on the lawn. The same technique is used on the second line, After terrible moans, a boy washes his uniform. The boy naively thinks he can wash the guilt from his conscience, which has a Lady MacBeth style idea. The next line reads, After the history lesson, children run to their toys. Then, The world turns in its sleep. Both these lines give a sense that humanity doesnt care and life goes on as if nothing happened. The stanza finishes by listing another twp typically Jewish names. Sara, Ezra the elipses is used to show the other 6 million Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust. The final stanza begins with Duffy adressing women all over the world, Sister. Duffy tells them never to f orget what happened to the Jews in World War II. She tells the women how brave the Jewish women were and how they sang the ancient psalms at dusk / inside the wire and strong men wept. The women were still completely faithful to their god even faced with death in an incredibly desperate situation that would make some people believe that if this was allowed to happen maybe there is no god. The final sentence is an extract from Psalm 25 paraphrased which is a desperate cry to god, Turn thee unto me with mercy, for I am desolate and lost. Alcoholics may become angry and argumentative, and withdrawn or depressed. They may also feel more anxious, sad, tense, and confused. Alcoholism is a treatable disease and many treatment programs and approaches are available to support alcoholics who have decided to get help, but no medical cure is available. Regardless of how someone is diagnosed as alcohol dependent or how they came to realize they have a serious drinking problem, the first step to treatment is a sincere desire to get help. Alcoholics who are pressured into treatment by social pressure or forced to quit by circumstances rarely succeed in the long run. Next, I will like to discuss the causes, effects and consequences of Alcoholics. There are several possible causes of alcoholism and risk factors for the disease. York, the Slave Who Traveled With Lewis and Clark One member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition was not a volunteer, and according to the law at the time, he was the property of another member of the expedition. He was York, an African-American slave who belonged to William Clark, the expeditions co-leader. York was born in Virginia in about 1770, apparently to slaves who were owned by the family of William Clark. York and Clark were roughly the same age, and it seems likely they had known each other since childhood. In the Virginia society in which Clark grew up, it would not have been uncommon for a Caucasian boy to have a slave boy as a personal servant. And it appears that York fulfilled that role, and remained Clarks servant into adulthood. Another example of this situation would be that of Thomas Jefferson, who had a lifelong slave and body servant named Jupiter. While York was owned by Clarks family, and later Clark himself, it seems that he married and had a family before 1804, when he was compelled to leave Virginia with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A Skilled Man on the Expedition On the expedition, York fulfilled a number of roles, and its apparent that he must have possessed considerable skills as a backwoodsman. He nursed Charles Floyd, the only member of the Corps of Discovery to have died on the expedition. So it seems York may have been knowledgeable in frontier herbal medicine. Some men on the expedition were designated as hunters, killing animals for the others to eat, and at times York functioned as a hunter, shooting game such as buffalo. So its obvious that he was entrusted with a musket, though back in Virginia a slave would not have been allowed to carry a weapon. In the expedition journals, there are mentions of York being a fascinating sight to the Native Americans, who had apparently never seen an African American before. Some Indians would paint themselves black before going into battle, and they were amazed by someone who was black by birth. Clark, in his journal, recorded instances of Indians inspecting York, and trying to scrub his skin to see if his blackness was natural. There are other instances in the journals of York performing for the Indians, at one point growling like a bear. The Arikara people were impressed by York and referred to him as the great medicine. Freedom for York? When the expedition reached the west coast, Lewis and Clark held a vote to decide where the men would stay for the winter. York was allowed to vote along with all the others, though the concept of a slave voting would have been preposterous back in Virginia. The incident of the vote has often been cited by admirers of Lewis and Clark, as well as some historians, as proof of the enlightened attitudes on the expedition. Yet when the expedition ended, York was still a slave. A tradition developed that Clark had freed York at the end of the expedition, but that is not accurate. Letters written by Clark to his brother after the expedition still refer to York being a slave, and it seems that he was not freed for many years. Clarks grandson, in a memoir, mentioned that York was Clarks servant as late as 1819, some 13 years after the expedition returned. William Clark, in his letters, complained about Yorks behavior, and it appears that he may have punished him by hiring him out to perform menial labor. At one point he was even considering selling York into slavery in the deep south, a much harsher form of slavery than that practiced in Kentucky or Virginia. Historians have noted that there are no documents establishing that York had ever been freed. Clark, however, in a conversation with the writer Washington Irving in 1832, did claim to have freed York. There is no clear record of what happened to York. Some accounts have him dead before 1830, but there are also stories of a black man, said to be York, living among Indians in the early 1830s. Portrayals of York When Meriwether Lewis listed the expedition participants, he wrote that York was, A black man by the name of York, servant to Capt. Clark. To Virginians at that time, servant would have been a common euphemism for slave. While Yorks status as a slave was taken for granted by the other participants in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the view of York has changed over the course of future generations. In the early 20th century, at the time of the centennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, writers referred to York as a slave, but often incorporated the inaccurate narrative that he had been freed as a reward for his hard work during the expedition. Later in the 20th century, York was portrayed as a symbol of black pride. Statues of York have been erected, and he is perhaps one of the better known members of the Corps of Discovery, after Lewis, Clark, and Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who accompanied the expedition.

The first reason is public daycares are having an oversupply of kids. Families who have toddlers living in the big city or the capital are having difficulty in finding public daycares, especially families with low income or don’t have city household. The Vietnamese daycares are oversupplied with kids because the population growing faster in recent years. Every mother and father wants their children sent to the place with good education and skillfully teacher. Consequently, the late ones don’t get the chance to send their children to public daycares so they must take their children to private daycares.
